This presentation will offer a preview of the K-12 NSQ-Aligned Teaching Online Certificate Series, which transforms the National Standards of Quality for Online Teaching into practical classroom strategies. The series of five self-paced workshops will explore evidence-based approaches that elevate student engagement and achievement in online environments and provide educators with resources to apply the National Standards of Quality into their daily teaching practice.
Join this presentation and discussion for ways to develop policies around emerging AI tech and tools to increase equity and access for students and staff.
Does your school embrace neurodiversity? How can we better serve neurodivergent students to ensure their success? How do we translate neurodiversity-affirming practices into the online and digital learning environment? In this session, we will discuss the recently-published book, Neurodiversity Affirming Schools: Transforming Practices So All Students Feel Accepted & Supported, by Emily Kircher-Morris and Amanda Morin. Read the book ahead of time or come to get an introduction to the topic. All are welcome!
The National Standards for Quality (NSQ) has a long history of promoting online and blended learning excellence through research-based standards. The NSQ Standards for Digital Leadership is a new initiative to help leaders manage digital contexts effectively. In this session, participants will learn about the current progress and timing of the Digital Leadership Standards and engage in discussion to explore how quality standards set a foundation for success for digital leaders.
Imagine a serene, crystal-clear lake—its stillness reflecting the world around it, yet beneath the surface, it's teeming with life and renewal. Just like this lake, the NSQ Course Standards have long served as a mirror of effective digital learning, reflecting best practices in course design. However, to remain vibrant, even the most tranquil lakes benefit from fresh currents. By refreshing these standards, we invite educators to dive into new depths of course design, empowered to create learning experiences that are as refreshing and life-sustaining as a pristine body of water.
While public perception of AI remains mixed, AI continues to impact education, offering limitless potential to augment course development. Effectively harnessing AI as a creative and collaborative partner in course design requires critical reflection on prompting, correspondence, and tool selection. This interactive discussion focuses on “raging with the machine,” embracing AI in course design, and sharing practical insights for leveraging AI strategically.
Come to this session to learn about the WCAG standards that are required for digital materials for courses and mobile applications as part of Title II revisions and updates. We will discuss what it means to meet the A and AA parts of WCAG and how these standards are different from UDL and the QM Rubric. Attendees will be able to ask questions about digital materials evaluation, processes for leaders to support teachers and instructional designers, and what Title II updates mean overall for K-12 schools who use digital instructional materials to varying degrees.
Join this session for a dynamic discussion on the National Standards for Quality Online Teaching. We’ll cover recent updates, explore how educators are implementing these standards, and share practical insights on integrating them into diverse educational settings. This session encourages participants to bring their experiences, questions, and ideas for a collaborative exchange of strategies and solutions.
In this session, we’ll discuss how creating an alignment chart that maps out standards and learning objectives to instructional content and assessments will actually make personalizing content more manageable. Come discover the benefits of alignment and increase your flexibility as a designer and teacher.
Any QM expert knows alignment can be a bumpy road! Sometimes we come across potholes like unclear objectives and unaligned activities and assessments. In this presentation, the speaker will distill how the nouns (the what) of a standard and the verbs (the how) form a foundation for alignment.
